Why I wrote this book...
A Thread Never Broken grew from reflection. Looking back at the experiences, people, places and moments that have shaped who I am.
As I gathered these poems and pieces together, I began to see a thread running through them. Some were written years apart and came from very different places in my life, yet they were connected by questions of identity, family, heritage, faith, belonging and growth.
Life does not always make sense while we are living it. Sometimes it is only when we look back that we begin to understand how one experience led to another, how difficulties changed us, and how the people and places we encountered left something behind.
Writing has given me a way to explore those connections. To revisit memories, question what I thought I understood, recognise what I have learned and acknowledge the things that have remained constant.
My faith is also woven throughout this collection. It has been part of how I have questioned, searched, grown and understood my own journey.
A Thread Never Broken is personal, but I hope it also gives readers space to think about their own story. The people who shaped them, the places they came from, the things they have overcome and the experiences that made them who they are.
Because however much our lives change, there are threads that travel with us.
