About Scribes with Vibes
Scribes with Vibes is a creative writing community where stories, experiences and imagination come together.
We believe everyone has a story to tell. Our creative writing workshops provide a welcoming and supportive space for people to explore their ideas, build confidence and discover or reconnect with their individual writing voice.
Through poetry, short stories, memoir and other forms of creative expression, we draw inspiration from our lives, heritage, communities and the world around us. Writers are encouraged to experiment, learn from one another and enjoy the freedom of putting their thoughts into words.
Our work also creates opportunities for writing to move beyond the workshop. Through publications, collaborative projects and events, we celebrate new and developing writers and give them opportunities to share their work with a wider audience.
Your story matters. Your voice matters. Write it.
Our Story
Scribes with Vibes began when a group of writers, each on their own creative writing journey, were formally introduced at an end of course event. That meeting sparked an idea in Karen: what if we continued meeting, writing and supporting one another after the course had ended?
In January 2025, that idea became a reality. We began meeting on Zoom every two weeks, setting ourselves a writing task and returning to share what we had created. We encouraged each other, exchanged ideas and supported one another’s work.
From those simple beginnings, different branches began to grow. New ideas emerged, individual journeys developed and we found different ways to expand, create and share our work with others.
One meeting sparked an idea. The idea became a group. And the group continues to grow.
What We Do
At Scribes with Vibes, we create opportunities for people to write, develop and share their work, while recognising that sometimes the biggest barrier to writing is simply believing that you can.
The heart and desire to write may already be there, but confidence can be affected by past experiences, criticism, self doubt or messages we have carried with us about what we can and cannot do. We aim to create a supportive space where those barriers can begin to be challenged, allowing people to explore their creativity, build confidence and find their own way of expressing themselves through words.
Our creative writing workshops explore poetry, short stories, memoir, personal reflection and other forms of writing. Through exercises, discussion, encouragement and constructive feedback, writers can experiment, develop their ideas and grow at their own pace.
We also believe writing should have opportunities to travel beyond the page. Our first collaborative anthology, Where I'm From, brings together the work of nine writers, giving them the opportunity to see their words published and shared with a wider audience.
Through workshops, publications, projects, events and performances, we continue to create new ways for writers to develop, connect and share their voices.
